Candy is Dandy...

There is a packet of candy included with the Blue Alpine freeze dryer, since the candy cycle will run in just a couple of hours instead of 24 to 36 hours like freeze drying fruit might take. So I'm planning on doing a few candy sessions once my new shipment of vacuum oil arrives.

I have some sugar free salt water candy that I'm going to try placed on or between two ginger snaps (Annas Swedish Thins). Blue Alpine did a video on making Oreo's by replacing the white goop with taffy before freeze drying. I'll try to do a similar process and see what happens.

Other Snacks

Cottage cheese is supposed to work well with freeze drying, so one of my sessions will be to try mixing in salsa or chocolate or something. And try it on a cracker. The cracker might have too much oil to freeze dry for long term storage, but hopefully good for a couple years at least. Food for thought and grounds for future research.
